The Regional Ambassadors powers our mission and vision for the betterment of community health workers and the community. Regional Ambassadors provide the anchor required and they are the pulse in the field, motivated to advance health and well-being for community.

Joshua Burton, HLS, CHW
Northern AmbassadorJoshua Burton is a Certified Community Health Worker and Health Literacy Specialist with over three years of experience advancing health equity and improving health literacy in Newark, New Jersey. In his role with the Newark Department of Health, Office of Health Education, he supports prevention initiatives, community outreach, and public health engagement across the city.
As a proud Newark resident, Joshua actively canvasses local neighborhoods, distributing health education materials and connecting residents to essential services and resources. He also develops both digital and print communications for key leadership initiatives, including social media campaigns, building displays, elevator messaging, and community outreach materials.
Joshua has demonstrated strong leadership through organizing an annual Men’s Health Event, launching a weekly men’s fitness group, creating a Health Literacy social media series, and coordinating free eye clinics that have served over 200 residents.
As the Northern Ambassador for the New Jersey Community Health Worker Association (NJCHWA), Joshua is committed to strengthening collaboration among Community Health Workers statewide, expanding professional development opportunities, and advancing a future where Community Health Workers are not only recognized, but positioned as leaders in shaping public health policy and community.

Tania Asmal, MPH
Central AmbassadorTania is honored to serve as a Community Health Ambassador. She recently completed her Master of Public Health at the Rutgers University School of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and a certificate in Maternal and Child Health. As a proud Latina and emerging public health leader, she is passionate about advancing health equity, strengthening community partnerships, and advocating for underserved populations.
Through her work in community outreach and healthcare, Tania has developed experience supporting diverse communities through education, resource navigation, and patient advocacy. Her leadership experiences have strengthened her commitment to culturally responsive care, collaboration, and creating meaningful change within the communities she serves.
She is excited to continue learning, connecting, and growing alongside fellow leaders who are dedicated to improving health outcomes and empowering communities through service and advocacy.

Cindy Weber, CHW
Southern AmbassadorCindy Weber serves in multiple roles at SPAN Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN), New Jersey’s federally funded Parent Training and Information Center, united by her commitment to engaging, empowering, and educating parents. She is the Detection, Connection, and Intervention Project Coordinator, a Community Health Worker, and an Early Childhood Training and Technical Assistance Specialist for the New Jersey Inclusive Child Care Project.
Cindy supports families using evidence-based models, including the Pyramid Model, and helps parents navigate complex medical, early intervention, and education systems while understanding their rights across school and childcare settings. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College and is endorsed by the New Jersey Infant Mental Health Association. A parent of children with special health care needs and disabilities, she brings lived experience, empathy, and professional expertise to strengthen cross-system collaboration and improve outcomes for families.
